Award Winning Digbeth
Back in February, I attended Talk About Local’s annual unconference (#TAL15) at the British Library in London.
This is a fantastic event that allows our sister site, Digbeth is Good, to connect with hyperlocal websites from all over the country, learning best practice from each other in a supportive and collegiate atmosphere.
As part of the day, attendees suggest sessions that they’d like to see, either asking for advice from attendees, sharing something new that they’ve learned, or simply putting aside time for a conversation about a particular subject. I proposed a session on Digbeth and our relationship with Peaky Blinders (tongue in cheek tagline: changing the world one BBC series at a time) and was pleasantly surprised with how many people came along.
Resulting from the discussions was a request to put together a list of things to do when a TV show comes to your area (read the Google Doc here if you’re interested) along with another Talk About Local Unaward!
Back in 2012, Digbeth is Good was presented with an Unaward from TAL, so receiving another prize in 2015 was completely unexpected:

Huge thanks go to Talk About Local and the whole hyperlocal community for being supportive, inspiring, and continuing to give up their time to help others. Although Digbeth is Good is a lot of work, I never fail to leave an event completely energised and ready for the year ahead. Long may it continue!
