We’ve previously written about the Shelanu Collective, who were until recently based in Digbeth. Although they have had to move away from the Custard Factory due to rising rents, their amazing Birmingham Souvenirs are still made in Digbeth so we thought we should share them with you!
Produced by Textiles by St. Anne’s, Shelanu’s range celebrates the diversity of Birmingham and is inspired by the city’s industrial heritage. The collection consists of a coin purse, tablet case, wash bag, and shoulder bag, all beautiful (in my humble opinion) and priced at under £35 each.
Sales of this product range will all go back to Shelanu, helping the Collective to become a sustainable craft social enterprise which can assist more migrant and refugee women to gain well-being and aspiration through their creative development.
And without getting too political, Shelanu’s work shows that refugees and migrants love Birmingham just as much as everyone else! The full range is available to buy at the Craftspace online shop, and if you’d like to learn more, email firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone on 0121 608 6668.
