Birmingham St Patricks Festival 2014

When: 7th-17th March 2014
Where: Digbeth

By now, you should all know that the St Patrick’s Day Parade will be taking place on Digbeth High Street from 12:00-16:00 on Sunday 16th March. Keeping with the theme of Irish Myths and Legends, the parade will be led by an Ollipeist (Irish Dragon).

As the legend goes, after St. Patrick rid Ireland of snakes, he began imprisoning dragons. Knowing his fate, the Ollipeist fled Ireland and in doing so, carved out with his tail what is now called the Shannon Valley.

As well as the parade, there will be a children’s entertainment area, live music stages, a mobile zoo, clown, face painting, story telling, a market, The Emerald Village, and a funfair!

But the parade isn’t the only event happening in Digbeth over the new few days, the festival has a number of fringe events taking place from Friday 7th until Monday 17th March:
