Blues: is the party over?

When: Saturday 15th June, 11:00 onwards
Where: The Edge, 79-81 Cheapside, Digbeth, B12 0QH
Tickets: free entry to the exhibition and discussion; £5 on the door for the party

This Saturday, Friction Arts will be hosting a blues party at their home at The Edge in Digbeth. Featuring Birmingham’s King Alloy Sound System, the event is a modern-day interpretation of the blues parties that took place all over Digbeth, Highgate and Eastside in the 1960s-80s.

Starting with an exhibition recreating an authentic blues party room from 11:00 onwards, the day will continue with a group discussion exploring the influence of blues parties on the wider music scene and UK/Caribbean culture.

Then, from 21:00 ’til late, soul enthusiasts, musicians, and revellers are invited to experience the bone-shaking reggae beats and the hot and heavy atmosphere that made blues parties legendary.

Check out the video below for a taster of what to expect. For more information about the event, visit the Friction Arts website or email info@frictionarts.com.
