Bradford Street Works

I’m sure none of you would have failed to notice the closure of Bradford Street for 10 nights for ‘planned maintenance’.

I say ‘planned maintenance’, as the council might as well be organising a Christening in Uzbekistan for the amount of information communicated to local residents.

Searching the Birmingham City Council website for planned works on Bradford Street brings up some interesting results for planned works as far into the future as 2015, but doesn’t tell me, a resident, what is going on with my street this week.

Useless doesn’t quite cover it.

Unfortunately the Council have failed to inform residents what will be happening. Granted, the road signs depicted in the picture appeared on Bradford Street around Wednesday last week, but they did not give any information about what work would be happening and how this disruption would be managed or how it would affect residents.

Ideally a mailing to all residents would have been the best way to go about it, but posters on lamposts on Bradford Street would suffice. Some lessons hopefully learned for the future.

But probably not.
