Brigitte Aphrodite is a punk poet, musician, theatre maker, and feminist showgirl. With her band she has played Leeds and Reading Festivals, Bestival, Latitude, and has supported Kate Nash and Josie Long on extensive UK tours.

Brigitte’s self-penned musical My Beautiful Black Dog, a piece of electrifying gig-theatre exploring the difficult and beauteous complexity of our mental health, is coming to The Mockingbird Theatre on 4th December!

Black Dog is what Winston Churchill called his depression, which is one of the themes of the musical. The show challenges the urgent stigma around depression and encourages the audience to take ownership of their own black dogs whilst partaking in wild dance moves, swagger costumes and banging tunes.
