In true RoguePlay style, the performance is highly physical, utilising their performers’ best skills in acrobatics and aerial performance.

Audience numbers are strictly limited to ten audience members per performance so booking is essential. Click here for more information about the show, and to buy tickets.

The event will also explore the huge influence that reggae has had on today’s music scene, and genres such as jungle, dubstep, dub and hip-hop.

It’s therefore likely that things will be a little louder in Digbeth this evening; DRA appreciates our members’ understanding in keeping Digbeth vibrant.

Made By Young People

Made By Young People are a print business with a conscious. Based in Digbeth, MBYP employ and educate young people in business and enterprise, while providing a high-quality print service to their customers. Although they are currently undergoing a rebrand (new logo below), that’s not the only change afoot…

MYBP Founder and CEO, Lee Blake, told us that he has made a big decision to give notice on their current premises on Lombard Street: “We now have six weeks to find a new place, otherwise we are in trouble! Ideally we would stay within Digbeth, but we need at least 1000-2000ft² and a parking space or two. We want to utilise ALL of the equipment we already have, and have a HQ large enough to hold workshops for young people on site.”

Fingers crossed they find something soon, and hopefully stay in Digbeth! If you know of any spaces that might suit MBYP’s needs (and modest budget) then please do get in touch via their website, Facebook or Twitter.

Filum Night – Monday 13th May

When: Monday 13th May, 19:30 onwards
Where: The Spotted Dog, Warwick Street, Digbeth

Stuck for something to do on Monday night? Never fear, Filum Night is here!

As ever, your host and landlord John will be on hand with free ‘tay n buns’ (that’s tea and cream cakes to the uninitiated!) and his wicked sense of humour.

Next week’s filum is:

The Informer (1935)
Dublin, 1922. Gypo Nolan, strong but none too bright, has been ousted from the rebel organization and is starving. When he finds that his equally destitute sweetheart Katie has been reduced to prostitution, he succumbs to temptation and betrays his former comrade Frankie to the British authorities for a 20 pound reward. In the course of one gloomy, foggy night, guilt and retribution inexorably close in.

Because Liam O’Flaherty’s novel had previously been filmed in 1929, RKO gave Ford a very modest budget. The director and his associates, particularly cinematographer Joseph H. August, turned this to their advantage in creating a claustrophobic masterpiece about a man at war with himself. In addition to McLaglen’s Oscar ‘The Informer’ also won John Ford his first along with wins for Best Screenplay and Best Score.

Enjoy!
