DRA Meeting Updates

The last meeting of Digbeth Residents Association took place on Monday 8th April, where attendees were treated to a sneak peak into plans for The Woodman public house. Don’t worry – if you weren’t able to make it, you won’t miss out! The presentation can be found below.

We also heard from oral history project, Digbeth Speaks, and Acorns Children’s Hospice, who are holding a charity abseil at the Custard Factory in June.

DRA would like to thank everyone who attended, especially resident Lisa Zdravkovic, who lent us her laptop when there was a technical difficulty! Thank you Lisa!

The next committee meeting of DRA will be held on Monday 13th May 2013 at 6pm in the Old Crown restaurant, High Street Digbeth. The next open meeting will be on Monday 10th June, but we’ll ensure to send out a reminder closer to the time!

The Annual General Meeting of Digbeth Residents Association will take place on Monday at 6pm in the Old Crown restaurant, High Street Digbeth. This non-alcoholic area can be accessed directly from the High Street – please look out for the DRA banner stand on the day.

This meeting will also include a presentation on Digital Connectivity in Digbeth from Richard Williams, Project Manager, The Digital Districts Programme, Birmingham City Council.

Digbeth Residents Association (DRA) is a voluntary organisation. To be effective we need as much help as possible, no matter how big or small, from volunteers who could ultimately join our committee.

DRA December 2012 Meeting

When: Monday 10th December 2012, 18:00
Where: The Old Crown Restaurant (access from Digbeth High Street – look out for the DRA banner stand on the day)

The December meeting of Digbeth Residents Association will take place on Monday 10th December at the Old Crown. As well as usual business, this meeting will feature presentations on the Birmingham Wholesale Markets at the DRA Christmas party.

Keith Simpson, the Director of Technolink (UK) Limited will present on behalf of the Birmingham Wholesale Fresh Produce Association (BWFPA) covering:

  • The current economic impact of the Birmingham Wholesale Market (BWM) and a little about the BWFPA and its membership;
  • The vital interrelationship between the BWM and the three retail markets, and the wider cultural and social significance of the BWM including employment impacts;
  • The history of the relationship between the Landlords of the BWM (Birmingham City Council) and the traders and the potential threat to the future of the BWM;
  • The potential solution for the future of the BWM enabling it to remain at its current location.

To frame Keith’s presentation, Jo-Ann Curtis, Curator of History at the Birmingham Museum, will give a brief overview of the history of the markets and their significance in the development of Digbeth and Birmingham as a whole.

Regeneration in Digbeth and HS2 – October Meeting of DRA

When: Monday 8th October 2012, 18:00-19:30
Where: Penthouse, Zellig Building, Custard Factory Digbeth
(Please go to the Nomad Room as usual from where you will be directed)

Be sure to add Monday the 8th October to your diaries. The October meeting of DRA will start at 6pm as usual, but thanks to our supporters at the Custard Factory, we will be located in the larger Penthouse room instead. This meeting will be focused on the themes of Regeneration in Digbeth and HS2, with a number of high-profile speakers already confirmed. Please ensure to check mydigbeth.co.uk regularly for more information.

DRA Meeting Update

Digbeth Residents Association (DRA) last met on Monday 11th June; minutes from the meeting follow this post.
