DRA Meeting – April 2014

When: Monday 14th April 2014, 18:00 onwards
Where: Old Crown Restaurant, High Street Deritend, Digbeth

The next meeting of Digbeth Residents Association will be taking place on Monday 14th April at 18:00 in the Old Crown on Digbeth High Street.

This meeting will feature an update from DRA on their activity and community events, along with an update on Police matters, followed by a short presentation from A3 Project Space on their series of events called You Are Here starting in June 2014.

DRA’s 2014 AGM

The next meeting of Digbeth Residents Association will be taking place on Monday 10th February at 18:00 in the Old Crown on Digbeth High Street. Please note that this is the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of DRA.

We would also welcome informal chats about the roles before nomination if you would prefer, and ask for only two hours a month of your time to support our activity and help us grow.

Next DRA Meetings – January and February 2014

When: Monday 10th February, 18:00
Where: The Old Crown Restaurant, Digbeth High Street

It’s almost time for the first open meeting of Digbeth Residents Association of 2014. The February meeting will take place on Monday 10th February at 6pm in the Old Crown Restaurant; this meeting will be the Annual General Meeting of DRA.

If you would like to nominate yourself for the position of Chairperson, Treasurer or Secretary of DRA, or would like to have an informal discussion about the roles, please feel free to email contact@mydigbeth.co.uk.

In the meantime, the next committee meeting will be taking place at the same time and place tomorrow, Monday 13th January. Please find minutes from our last meeting in December 2013 below:

December 2013 Meeting of DRA

When: Monday 9th December, 18:00 onwards
Where: Old Crown Restaurant, High Street Deritend, Digbeth

The next meeting of Digbeth Residents Association will be taking place on Monday 9th December at 18:00 in the Old Crown on Digbeth High Street.

This meeting will be relatively informal to thank our residents and supporters for their help over the
year, and to share a snack and a beverage and a healthy pat on the back for the successes of recent months. An agenda and further documents for the meeting are available below:

October 2013 Meeting

When: Monday 14th October 2013, 18:00

The next meeting of Digbeth Residents Association (DRA) will take place on Monday 14th October 2013 at 6pm in the Old Crown restaurant, High Street Digbeth. This non-alcoholic area can be accessed directly from the High Street – please enter through the new Old Crown Coffee Club entrance.

This meeting will include an update on DRA activity, particularly surrounding planning applications, licensing issues, and the issues facing our members at Rea Place, Rea House and Rea Court.

Please note that there was no DRA meeting in July due to an emergency water shortage situation at the Abacus development.

August 2013 DRA Meeting

When: Monday 19th August 2013, 18:00
Where: Restaurant, Old Crown, High Street Digbeth

The next meeting of Digbeth Residents Association (DRA) will take place on Monday 19th August 2013 at 6pm in the Old Crown restaurant, High Street Digbeth. This non-alcoholic area can be accessed directly from the High Street – please enter through the new Old Crown Coffee Club entrance.

This meeting will include an update on DRA activity, along with an update from the Woodman Pub on building progress, and a free tasting session for Edible Eastside’s Digbeth Pie! This is something we are delighted to be involved with, and which has so many Digbeth connections:

We are developing recipe suggestions, which will be taste-tested over the Summer at Edible Eastside and locations across Digbeth. We will be inviting people to vote for their favourite recipe.

The winning recipe will be launched St. Basil’s Bake Off in September 2013 and the pies sold at Fierce Festival in October. Sales of the recipe will be donated to St. Basil’s Charity for Young Homeless People.

June 2013 Meeting of DRA

When: Monday 10th June 2013, 18:00
Where: Restaurant, Old Crown, High Street Digbeth

The next meeting of Digbeth Residents Association (DRA) will take place on Monday 10th June 2013 at 6pm in the Old Crown restaurant, High Street Digbeth. This non-alcoholic area can be accessed directly from the High Street – please enter through the new Old Crown Coffee Club entrance.

This meeting will include an update on DRA activity, along with a presentation from Jonathan Lord of HS2 Community Forums to give our membership more information about the progress of the HS2 project.

After the meeting, representatives from Birmingham and Black Country Community Foundation will be taking photographs (and recording sounds) to showcase the work of DRA on the enormous 360° screen at Birmingham’s Science Museum – thinktank!

In a unique collaboration between BBCCF, Thinktank and Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery, DRA has been offered the opportunity to share our work with all of Birmingham in the planetarium. The more people that can be a part of this, the better, but we will of course respect the wishes of all attendees who would prefer not to participate. Please note that this will be happening after the meeting and presentations, so you will not be filmed simply because you have attended the meeting.

DRA Meeting Updates

The last meeting of Digbeth Residents Association took place on Monday 8th April, where attendees were treated to a sneak peak into plans for The Woodman public house. Don’t worry – if you weren’t able to make it, you won’t miss out! The presentation can be found below.

We also heard from oral history project, Digbeth Speaks, and Acorns Children’s Hospice, who are holding a charity abseil at the Custard Factory in June.

DRA would like to thank everyone who attended, especially resident Lisa Zdravkovic, who lent us her laptop when there was a technical difficulty! Thank you Lisa!

The next committee meeting of DRA will be held on Monday 13th May 2013 at 6pm in the Old Crown restaurant, High Street Digbeth. The next open meeting will be on Monday 10th June, but we’ll ensure to send out a reminder closer to the time!

Digbeth Residents Association (DRA) is a voluntary organisation. To be effective we need as much help as possible, no matter how big or small, from volunteers who could ultimately join our committee.

  • Do you have any ideas for what we can do for Digbeth?
  • Are you a member of another residents association and would like to work with us?
  • Would you like to take on the role of Chairperson of DRA?
