The wait is almost over – this weekend will see more that 120 artists descend on Digbeth to create even more fantastic street art on our barren walls as part of City of Colours 2016.

Not only will there be live painting, but also music stages, a market hall, b boy battles, spoken word performances, street food, and workshops.

Birmingham used to be known as the city of 1,000 trades, but the Birmingham Mail has now coined it the city of 1,000 street artists when releasing this video compilation of Digbeth’s world class urban art:

On Saturday, artists will be painting more than 5,000 sq ft of wall space, as well as hoardings, boards and quirky canvases. Sunday will be a viewing day. The whole festival is free, but donations on the day are gratefully accepted to ensure the future of City of Colours.

For a taste of things to come, reknowned artist Phlegm visited Digbeth last week, completing this fantastical mural on Coventry Street (on the side wall of Pirlo’s and opposite Hennessey’s). Click for bigger versions:

Mind = Blown.

Thank you to Andy Smart (AKA @DJColatron) for the photos.
