Digbeth Mela is an independent festival celebrating cutting-edge film, music collaborations, and art, all from the West Midlands’ multi-cultural and diverse South Asian community.
You’ll find a range of events and activities on offer, such as Bollywood dance lessons, Bhangra Bingo, an arcade games battle, and Mela TV – a youth broadcasting digital channel.
Digbeth Mela will also introduce the best in British Asian musicians, with representation from all genres including dance, Bhangra, hip-hop, Bollywood, folk, contemporary and grime. There will also be a showcase of lyrical prowess with young spoken word poets Nafeesa Hamid, who performed at TedxBrum, and Raza Hussain from Beatfreeks, a finalist in BBC 1 Xtra’s competition.
Along with pop-up exhibitions, a Mela Club Night with Swami Baracus, don’t forget the Spice Street Food Market, curated by Taste and Liquor. Phew!
