Five reasons we can’t wait for the return of Peaky Blinders

From the Birmingham Mail website:

The first trailer from the second series of Peaky Blinders has been released and is available to watch below. With our excitement levels building for series two, we look at five reasons why we can’t wait for Peaky Blinders to return:

1. More Birmingham on the TV

Okay, so a lot of the show is filmed in Liverpool. The show still has the spirit of Birmingham, and some was filmed nearby at the Black Country Living Museum. Extras for the second series were also selected in Digbeth, which should help lend an authentic feel to the show. The setting of gangs in Birmingham is still incredibly fresh and we can’t wait to watch more. Keep your eyes open for more Birmingham references and history. Hopefully they’ll have improved the accents a little.

2. Cillian Murphy… and Tom Hardy!

Let’s take a moment to admire the coincidence that both The Scarecrow and Bane from latest trilogy of Batman films will be starring in Peaky Blinders. Good, now that’s over we can also appreciate having two fantastic actors on the cast. Perhaps Hardy will be Birmingham’s reckoning?

3. Fashion

Every era has its own snippets of wonderful fashion and 1919 and early 1920’s Birmingham is no different. The show boasts that classic gangster style with a British twist (most of these things tend to be set in America, don’t they?). Who knows, perhaps flat caps with razor blades stitched into them will come into fashion?

4. Vision and focus

Many shows such as Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones have a strong first series in the same way that Peaky Blinders did. Both of those shows went on to improve on that first series hugely in their second run and we expect the same sort of improvement from Peaky Blinders. We’re going to see a cooler and more atmospheric side to the show.

5. That cliffhanger

Season one ended on something of a cliffhanger, leaving audiences desperate for a second series. We’ll find out not only who was on the end of that gunshot that closed out the final episode of the first series, but also maybe who fired it.
