Happy Birthday to The Night Owl

It’s been (almost) a year since the UK’s first Northern Soul and Motown club opened in Digbeth, and what a roller coaster it has been for The Night Owl.

In the past months, this intimate club has held many sold-out parties, hosting acts such as Angelo Starr & The Team, Tim Burgess (The Charlatans), and Steve Craddock (Ocean Colour Scene). The Night Owl also won the Brummie’s Choice award for Best New Venue – not bad at all!

Next weekend, 15th-17th July, The Night Owl will be celebrating its first birthday with a mega weekender:

  • KoKo Fridays returns on the Friday with a purist Northern Soul night, featuring ‘Black Country Legends’ all night. There will be DJs from infamous original Northern Soul clubs of the 70s and 80s, with PEP heading up the bill.
  • Saturday night sees The Soul Hole hosting an all-nighter, with the legendary Colin Curtis doing both a Torch and Mecca set.
  • Sunday will be Testify, an all-dayer with a BBQ, live music from The Heels, and more 60s RnB, ska and soul than you can shake your booty at!

And if that wasn’t enough, there will be a host of activities around the venue during the day on Saturday and Sunday, including food traders, vintage and vinyl stalls, dance classes and more!
