Important Announcement – City of Colours 2015

From the City of Colours organising committee:

Last year’s City of Colours was a great success and interest in 2015 has again been high.

As a team we have faced a number of challenges in our planning process, in particular around the funding required to ensure that a bigger, better, more innovative festival is safe, friendly and in line with our fundamental values.

Funding is always a challenge. We have been successful in securing Arts Council funding as well as number of exciting sponsors, but with increased visitors comes significant responsibility to ensure a safe festival. We have considered making it a paid event but feel that this goes against our core values of promoting community cohesion and the true carnival feel that we very much want to replicate from last year.

So, we have taken the decision to postpone the event planned for September 2015 until the early summer of 2016.

We appreciate that many will be disappointed by the delay, but we believe it will be worth it! With this extra time we can develop further sponsor links and funding streams.

In the meantime, we will be hosting a number of smaller pop-up events whilst we plan and prepare for a bigger and better City of Colours Festival 2016.

Again, we thank you for all your support. Without you we couldn’t do this. We will keep in touch with our plans and progress.

Keep an eye on the City of Colours website and Facebook page for more announcements as they are made.
