Digbeth is home to Birmingham’s premier Polish restaurant: The Karczma.

Regularly featuring near the top of TripAdvisor reviews, The Karczma has won over the Observer’s food critic Jay Rayner, and it continues to win new fans. Last month, Mary Griffin visited the restaurant and also gave it a huge thumbs-up:

I glance enviously at my companion’s Placek po Zbojnicku. The menu describes this dish as “a real treat” and it’s not kidding. The menu is extensive and I’m planning a return trip for the gherkin soup, the beetroot soup and the pierogi.

The Karczma has soul and there’s a satisfaction to eating here that you just don’t get from a more mainstream eatery. Take a chance on something a little different and you’ll be dazzled by this Polish Aladdin’s cave and its wholesome, hearty fodder.
