New Digbeth Hotel

From the Birmingham Mail:

New Digbeth hotel could spark area’s ‘sustainable development’

Plans for a new 39-bedroom hotel and banqueting hall in Digbeth have been approved.

Members of Birmingham City Council Planning Committee said the scheme on Bordesley Street would help rejuvenate the area.

Coun Peter Douglas Osborn (Cons, Weoley), said: “Digbeth has been dying on its feet for years. This is a small development which will give rise to sustainable improvement.”

The plans, which will see former office space converted, will also include a two-storey extension.

Although we’re not sure that we agree with the quote that Digbeth is dying (it’s quite the opposite actually!), a new small hotel is surely a welcome addition to the services offered in Digbeth.
