Plans submitted for Ladbrooke House

Serena Hotel has submitted proposals to build a 40-bedroom four or five-star hotel at Ladbrooke House, Digbeth, complete with a swimming pool, gym and spa.

The Grade B and locally-listed building, on the corner of Bordesley Street and Oxford Street, has most recently been used by Birmingham City Council, but is in need of renovation.

The proposals for the building also include a 250-person banqueting suite, as well as a bar and restaurant. Serena Hotel admits that the impending arrival of the HS2 terminus to Digbeth was taken into account in the plans. We’d expect that the Beorma Quarter development also had a part to play in their decision.

The proposals include a double-storey side extension and the addition of a light well, with estimations of it taking a year to be completed.
