Scam Warning

Please see the contents of a letter sent today to the Digbeth Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator from the Digbeth Neighbourhood Police Officer:

Dear Residents,

Xmas is fast approaching – it has been confirmed by Royal Mail. The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam:

A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a Premium rate number).

DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize.

If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £315 for the phone call.

If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 020 7239 6655.

For more information, see the Crime Stoppers website.

Digbeth Neighbourhood Team.
Digbeth Police Station,
0345 113 5000. Ex 7868 6732.

I too am normally weary about these warnings, but as this has been sent from a reliable source, I would urge all residents to please be vigilant.

This is an old scam from over 5 years ago and just gets spammed around each year by people :).

And its impossible to have an instant phone charge as you state as high as £300+!

    Google is your friend.

    Thanks Pete!

As I said, I too normally don’t believe these emails, but seeing as it was sent to me (as the Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator) from the Police, I thought I better circulate it!
