St Patrick’s Parade 2015

When: Sunday 15th March, 12:00
Where: venues all over Digbeth

It’s almost that time of year again, when Digbeth – and indeed Birmingham – turns green for St Patrick’s Day. The parade will be taking place on Sunday, and this year will feature more fringe events than ever before.

With the Irish Contribution to Birmingham being the theme of this year’s parade, the Dome in the Custard Factory is hosting a free exhibition courtesy of the Birmingham Irish Association. The exhibition is open all this week to celebrate the Irish footprint on the city’s history, through archived photographs and accompanying stories.

Digbeth Residents were out in force for the Gala Launch Party that took place at The Macdonald Burlington Hotel on Friday 6th March, and will be walking the traditional parade route to show their support for the Irish community in Digbeth. All residents are invited to join in the parade, and should have received information on road closures in their postboxes.

The St Pat Rocks stage will be the main attraction of the Emerald Village on Bradford Street, playing host to a mix of upcoming local bands and traditional Irish musicians. There will also be family fun in the shape of fairground rides, face painting, and market stalls offering everything from beautiful crafts to street food.

For adults wanting more live music, the Institute is hosting a free daytime gig – click the image above for more information. But if you want a real festival experience, the Rainbow and the Old Crown are taking over with Clover Fields – see the flyer below for more information.
