Yamination Studios, based at the Custard Factory, want to establish an animation company in Digbeth to compete with the bigger well-known UK studios, and to provide jobs for local talent. At present, the crew are mainly volunteers, recent graduates and students, along with the aid of a handful of industry professionals.

Drew Roper, Director at Yamination, recently won a Sky Arts competition which has gone part way to funding an innovative animation called At Issue. The film combines traditional hand-drawn 2D, stop-motion, and CGI animation, and is in line to be nominated for a BAFTA! At present, the studio is halfway through producing the seven-minute film, but need to secure more funding to see it through to completion.

This is where you, the great who reside in Digbeth, come in. Yamination have launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise £30,000 to finish the film to a high quality. A selection of rewards, ranging from posters to exclusive experiences such as filming workshops at the studio, are being offered in exchange for donations.

Yamination Studios would really appreciate the support of Digbeth Residents Association members to help them reach their goal, and they are committed to using local talent and suppliers to finish At Issue, to ensure the film is truly Made in Digbeth.
